MLC Ballkids training

The selection trials involve vigorous testing to ensure candidates have the physical and mental stamina to be an MLC Ballkid.  Tests comprise throwing and catching techniques, concentration, fitness and court positioning – and most importantly, their attitude towards the important role they play. Following careful selection, MLC Ballkids engage in a demanding schedule of training and preparation.

As a team, MLC Ballkids train over several training weekends in August and November, in order to sharpen their ball skills, obtain their MLC-branded tournament uniforms and receive necessary information and instructions.

In Melbourne, training takes place at Melbourne Park. Outside of Victoria, MLC Ballkids train in their home state.
